Consultant Paediatrician and Allergist

Dr Dinkar Bakshi is a consultant in child health & allergy. He qualified in medicine in 1996, trained in Paediatrics in the London Deanery, completed a 3 year MSc in Allergy at Imperial College London and was appointed to an NHS Consultant post in 2012.

 

In his clinics, Dr Bakshi deals with all acute and chronic medical problems in children including food allergies, eczema, hay fever, abdominal pain, constipation, bedwetting, seizures, migraine, joint pains, nutritional disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety and palpitations. He also offers all childhood vaccines in clinic. In regards to behavioural disorders, he does the initial assessment for ADHD/ autism, analyses feedback from teachers/ parents on an accredited scoring system and recommends referral to the local NHS community paediatric service for multidisciplinary assessment and treatment.

 

Dr Bakshi is one of the few formally trained paediatric allergists, with work experience in some of the best teaching hospitals in the UK including the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital for children in London, St Mary’s Hospital Paddington, The Royal London Hospital and Nottingham University Hospitals Trust. He has previously held the post of Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Allergy at Imperial College London for 1 year. He is an expert in interpreting skin prick tests for food/ airborne allergies in children, eczema management and offers immunotherapy (Grazax) for severe hay fever, cat and house dust mite allergy. He has participated in many clinical trials, published extensively in peer reviewed indexed journals, and has presented in many national and international conferences. He is frequently invited to deliver talks at medical conferences on topics like cows’ milk protein allergy, wheat intolerance and eczema management in children. On the academic front, he is the editor of The Online Journal of Clinical Audits (www.clinicalaudits.com), Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health(FRCPCH) and an accredited examiner for the Diploma in Child Health (DH).
